Saina Nehwal Wins the Indonesia Masters Title

Ace shuttler, Saina Nehwal secured her first-time BWF title in two years after three-time world champion Carolina Marin of Spain walked out of the Indonesia Masters final because of a leg injury. Saina, the London Olympics bronze medalist, who won the BWF title in 2017 Malaysia, was lagging behind 4-10 in the opening game when Marin decided to pull herself out from the contest.
Saina mentioned that this year was very crucial for all of them. However, whatever happened was totally unfortunate. She stated that Marin is a good and tough competitor. Although Marin started the game well, at the end the thing happened was not good at all. Saina, last year suffered a career-threatening knee injury at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
It’s a commendable performance for an Indian, who had suffered a tibia injury last year. Saina even stated that over the last few years, she has been injured a lot. Thus, seeing one injured like this on the court is very painful. She even stated that at the Olympics when she got injured, she was very upset and started to cry. Hence, as a player, she knows how tough it is for another player going through such injuries and pain. She even mentioned that the sport is like that, their sport is very cruel.
Saina stated that she took to break the whole of December and she decided to play this event in order to check whether she is back in form. The result surprised her a lot. Her first match was against Sindhu after the injury. Saina stated that she didn’t go through any kind of training. However, she is glad about the match she played against Carolina.
