Michael Schumacher’s son Mick is going to make his debut in Formula One in a test for Ferrari on 2nd April. He is going to make his debut in Bahrain. It has been reported that Mick, 20-year old son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, he might appear for the young driver’s test.
Teams are compelled to test young drivers for two days during the mid-season test in Bahrain.
As per reports, Mick would be testing the Ferrari SF90 on Tuesday (2nd April), before taking the wheel for Alfa Romeo on Wednesday.
In January, Schumacher was signed as the Ferrari driver academy. The 20-year-old was the European Champion at Formula Three level last season. He would be contending for Prema Racing in the F2 championship in the first round of the series in Bahrain. The test is a precursory step to possibly joining the team with whom his father, Michael Schumacher faced immense success.
Michael, who is currently in the recovery stage after a serious accident while skiing in 2013, won the world championship seven times. His son, Mick started racing in karting in 2008. Mick stated that he is very excited as he got the chance to be a part of the Ferrari driver academy and also of the Scuderia Ferrari family.
F1 has 2 two-day in-season scheduled tests in 2019. Of the four days, two of them must be run by a driver who has competed in fewer than two F1 races and Schumacher meets this criterion.
