In today’s match of the ICC World Cup 2019, one is going to witness the Black Caps locking horns with the Proteas. Both teams would be facing off each other at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.
In this cricket tournament, New Zealand is yet to face any defeat. In the points table, they are in the second spot with three wins and one match being abandoned. In fact, New Zealand is the only team, along with India who hasn’t lost any matches so far.
On the other hand, South Africa who had a dismal start in this World Cup campaign lost three games straightaway and one match being abandoned, before achieving their maiden win against Afghanistan. Currently, the Proteas are in the eighth spot and they desperately need to win the rest of their scheduled matches of the tournament, in order to make it for the semi-finals.
1.The Black Caps won’t be changing their winning combination from the previous match. Colin Munro and Martin Guptill who started with a couple of half-centuries, scored low in the last two encounters.
2.Ross Taylor has been very good with a strike-rate of 90.90. It’s expected that he would play well.
3.Colin de Grandhomme and Mitchell Santner are the other all-rounders in the lineup along with Neesham.
4.Lockie Ferguson has bowled with pace and venom.
1.It is being expected that pacer Lungi Ngidi would be back in the team.
2.There are also high hopes on Hashim Amla as he is in great form.
3.Quinton de Kock has arguably been their best batsmen with 186 runs at an average of 46.50.
4.The anxiousness lies with Kagiso Rabada, who is yet to find his rhythm, though the youngster has picked up five wickets.
5.Andile Phehlukwayo and Chris Morris have made improvement.
New Zealand has been in great form throughout the tournament. They have a great Net Run Rate of +2.163, the highest among all teams. New Zealand has maintained a 4-match winning action against South Africa in the World Cups. The Kiwis have beaten the Proteas in their last four World Cup meetings. So there is a high chance that this time to the Proteas might be defeated by the Black Caps. However, going by the forecast, one won’t be surprised if the match gets abandoned.
