Following New Post Types Would Become Easier In Reddit from Now Onwards

For all subreddits, Reddit is going to launch two new post types. As per latest reports, from now onwards, moderators would be able to create event and collection posts that would help users to follow the events along with discussions. The discussions would be based around live events, TV shows, and breaking news.

Event posts would allow moderators to organize posts before time, as well as add time information such as start and end time. Users would be able to follow the post and get a notification when the event begins. It’s a handy feature for upcoming events, like TV shows or sporting events — especially in subreddits like r/GameofThrones and r/RocketLeagueEsports, where the facets have been in beta testing for the last several months.

Collection posts would enable moderators curate and combine relevant posts so users can quickly go through the best ones. It’s helpful for finding all the discussions centred on TV episodes, or searching the best AMAs hosted in specific subreddits.

Events and Collections would offer users with the alternative to follow the posts on their own; without having the need to subscribe to the entire subreddit.

Reddit senior product manager Adam Barton told reporters that the features intend to make it easier for the users to navigate the posts, and make it more user-friendly for the new users. He added that their aim is to lower the barrier.
