Disney is all set to give Netflix a hard competition in streaming online content. The streaming service of Disney, also known as Disney Plus, is about to get released this year. It is believed that this service will be the home base for movie and tv series generated by Disney. This is going to be the one stop shop for all the big budgeted movies of Star Wars, Pixar, and Marvel Cinematic Universe films. The platform will be showcasing a number of original shows as well.
The market is predicting a strong vibe for this Disney gambit. An analyst of Morgan Stanley has predicted that Disney Plus will get about 13 million subscribers by the end of the coming year. The analyst has also projected that the accumulated number of subscribers for the video services of the company will surpass 130 million by the end of 2024. This number of projected subscribers put Disney on the same platform of today’s Netflix.
According to the sources, most of the big budgeted franchises, like Star Wars and Marvel will be placed in the premium section of the platform. Some original shows, like The Mandalorian, have completed shooting and is going to be available from the first day. Some Marvel spinoffs are also going to debut in 2020.
However, problems related to the availability of some titles have complicated the situation. It is being said that some of the biggest hits of Disney, which premiered during 2016, 2017, and 2018, are going to return to Netflix in 2026. Disney, however, is being tight-lipped about this issue. The subscribing price of this platform is also going to be much lower than both Netflix and HBO Now.
In short, if you love to watch fantasy movies, or if you have kids, you should consider getting even another streaming subscription this year.
