Google is going to add four new Playmoji to its augmented reality Playground service established on characters from the forthcoming Detective Pikachu. From 2nd May, users would be able to download and take photos with Detective Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Charizard, and Mr. Mime from within the Playground field of the camera app on Google Pixel phones.
During last year’s Google Pixel 3 event, the search engine giant re branded its ARCore-powered AR Stickers as Playmoji. Originally, the characters were only available to the latest generation of Google’s phones; however, in December, Google broadened their accessibility to the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL. Along with Pixel devices, Google stated that the new Playmoji would be also available on some LG and Motorola phones.
On Pixel phones, one can find the Playmoji characters under the Playground area of the camera app. The first time users try to use them, they would be incited to download them from the Google Play Store, and after that point they would become readily available to place the characters in a scene. Even though these are the versions of the characters taken straight away from the film rather than the cute ones that one remembers from the cartoons or games. This means that Pikachu would have fur, Charizard would have scales, and Mr. Mime has a eerie little face that one shouldn’t want to be anywhere near the loved ones.
Detective Pikachu isn’t the only recent movie that’s going to get Playmoji. Last month, Google added five new Avengers — War Machine, Black Widow, Thor, Captain Marvel, and Rocket — to correspond with the release of Endgame.
