CWC 2019: Memes Start To Flood Twitter after England vs New Zealand’s Match

Wednesday’s match between England vs New Zealand was a thrilling one. During the match, one got to witness England defeating New Zealand and eventually making their way through to the CWC semi-finals. England’s win by 119 runs literally have sent Pakistan on the verge of elimination from the semi-final contention. After all, Pakistan has bagged 9 points from 8 games and also a negative run rate.

During Wednesday’s match at the Riverside Ground, Durham in Chester-le-Street, England scored a huge run of 306. For the Black Caps, chasing that big target was a bit tough as they were reduced to 2 for 14. The Kiwis could only score 186 runs and bundled out with still five overs left. Although NZ’s berth for the semi-finals is confirmed, still they would need to face Australia in Manchester on 9th July.

Bairstow Makes another Century

Riding on the shoulders of Bairstow, England made an entry into the semi-final of the ongoing CWC 2019. Roy and Bairstow, once again helped the team to reach a brilliant score, just like they did against India. Within 19 overs they added 123 runs before Roy got dismissed. However, Bairstow took charge of the game and scored his second consecutive century.

New Zealand Couldn’t Chase Well

New Zealand’s Henry Nicholls couldn’t score well and bagged a duck. Also, Guptill continued with his poor form. To some extent, Williamson and Taylor provided some stability to the innings. However, after the Kiwi skipper was run-out, the partnership got broken.

Neesham and Latham got involved in a quick partnership but the former was bowled and very soon Colin de Grandhomme was also dismissed which blew away their chance of winning.

Cricket experts feel that Eoin Morgan played very smartly. He ensured that his team scores well to secure a place in the semis. Soon after England’s win, the Brits were all in praise across Twitter.
Last time, when former England captain Naseer Hussain created a waver after asking Pakistani fans that whom they would support during India vs England match, tweets started to pour in soon that showed that Pakistani fans would support their neighbors instead of England. Similarly, after England’s eclectic win against the Black Caps, Twitter was again flooded with memes.

Even former players like Michael Vaughan, Russel Arnold, Nick Compton, Vinod Kambli took to Twitter to congratulate England for their win against the Kiwis.
