A goal in the second half is all that Cristiano Ronaldo needed to ensure that Juventus claimed a record eighth victory in the Italian Super Cup. Juventus won against AC Milan 1-0 in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
The trophy was contested in foreign shores for the 10th time in its history. The Italian Super Cup is a match between the winners of the Serie A, the top tier league in Italy, and the Coppa Italia. However, AC Milan qualified for the match since Juventus had claimed the domestic double in the preceding season.
For Milan, Gonzalo Higuain started on the bench while rumors are circling of a possible movie to Chelsea. However, few pre-match reports had suggested that he was fighting a fever.
Nonetheless, it was Ronaldo’s show. The Portuguese talisman of Juventus scored the only and the winning goal which claimed the 8th Supercoppa for the Turin club. With this win, Juventus has now become the most successful team in the competition’s history as they now have one more trophy than AC Milan.
This win also marks the first title that Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed with Juventus. Cristiano Ronaldo had joined Juventus at the start of the 2018-19 season after leaving Real Madrid.
Juventus is currently on the top of the Serie A table.
